I have a Wacom Graphire (2?), but did not use it anymore due to the fact that I could not reach the whole screen with the pen. This was due to the pen being set to absolute mode. So after a quick Google search I found this tutorial, followed the steps 8 till 12. Restarted the X-server and set the stylus to relative mode (can also be done in xorg.conf) using xsetwacom (installed the package using synaptic) like this:

xsetwacom set stylus mode relative

Et voila a Wacom stylus behaving like a mouse. Nice!

Browsing with Flash and Firefox on Ubuntu equals to crashes all the time. When will they finally fix it? Is this prove of the proprietary software development being totally doomed, flawed and fucked up? I tend to think so.

update: Slashdot is also wondering about the horrible state of Flash on Linux. Is it a strategy from Adobe?

In 1989 a great tradition started with GHP (Galactic Hacker Party), which continued four years later in 1993 with HEU (Hacking at the End of the Universe), HIP (Hacking In Progress) in 1997, HAL (Hacking At large) in 2001 and finally WTH (What The Hack) in 2005.

Next year a new crew wants to organize the next event in this fine tradition. The name has been set on HAR2009 (Hacking At Random 2009). I’ve been part of this tradition in one form or the other since HIP97 and thus this event would by my ten year anniversary. Can’t wait for it.
