Pecha Kucha about katana and technology

At Ignite Boulder (using a Pecha Kucha derived format) Jonathan Kahan gave a talk about the samurai sword (katana). It’s an entertaining short presentation on the craftsmanship and highly technical methods used by the swordmakers in ancient Japan in creating these sophisticated weapons. As a Takeda-Ryu budoka I’m happy to know that if Tom Cruise looks cool (see 1:27 minutes into the talk) with a sword then there might be hope for me as well

Paul Robertson did it again!

Two years ago I wrote a post about Paul Robertson’s Pirate Baby’s Cabana Street Fight 2006 (check it out on Google Video ), which I really enjoyed. Today I found out that Robertson just released his new film called: Kings of Power 4 Billion % (download it using bittorrent ). Once again its full of cute looking anime characters in settings full of violence and gore. It has the looks of a game, but it’s an animation.
I wonder why nobody has contacted Robertson to transform his work from a static masterpiece into an interactive masterpiece.I would definitely want to play it!

Iron and Wine

I really enjoyed Iron and Wine playing in Paradiso Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Luckily they allowed Fabchannel to record the show so you may enjoy it as well. Most of their songs were in a completely different arrangement than on their records which made it even more interestingly for me. Just one minor remark: There was virtually no interaction between the band and the audience.

I can remember playing Photek ‘s music all the time on tape (remember that analogue medium, kids?) given to me by some friends at school. Today I came across this clip on Theo ‘s blog and couldn’t resist posting it. Now, I wonder how this type of Kendo (apperently it’s called “Ni-Ten-Ichi-Ryu (Two Swords Technique)” as that’s the name of this track) relates to Takeda-Ryu

Thanks to the people of EngageMedia there is now a report on Free Open Source Software codecs for online video(pdf 23MB) .

I haven’t read it back to back yet but it’s definately an interesting and necessary read for all of us advacating for more open media formats.
