HOURS AND WORK
Matt (of WordPress fame) is relating to a post by Scott Berkun (who wrote a book on projectmanagement for O’Reilly) on the topic hours and work. Both have good points especially on the fact that there is no relation between working loads of hours and actually producing anything worthwhile. I especially like this conclusion by Matt that:
traditional corporate structures are starting to crack at the seams, and the distributed model companies like Automattic, MySQL, SocialText, and many others use will start to gain real legs and acceptance
I totally agree! I think the big ‘monster’ companies in the services field will disappear within the next decade, because it just doesn’t work anymore (did it ever?). I belief that working in small (less than 30 people) networked and distributed groups is the future. Everybody knows that after a certain size organisations change dynamics and usally not for the best. So why become bigger anyway?
